Open Top Conical Sedimentation Tanks

Our open top Open Top Conical Sedimentation Tanks are available with 30, 45 and 60 degree conical bases from 2000 litres to 15000 litres moulded from corrosion resistant, UV stabilised, mid-density food grade polyethene and designed for the containment of liquids up to a Specific Gravity of 1.5.  These tanks are used in primary water treatment requiring settlement in liquids rather than the bulk removal of solids from wastewater. Coagulation and flocculation reagents may be added to the liquid to be clarified where the reagents cause the suspended particles to clump together to form a sludge, which can be removed from the tank leaving a clarified solution.

The Clarification Process

On these Open Top Conical Sedimentation Tanks, dirty water (contaminated liquid) enters the tank from the top via a central pipe where particles and sediment sink to the base of the cone. The clean water rises to the top of the tank and flows over launder rings into an outer ‘liner’ from where it is piped away. A PN16 outlet in the cone allows complete flush down and a PN16 flange at the base of the side of cone permits sludge removal. A heavy-duty galvanised support frame together with a top fitting mixing unit is supplied as standard (as image above).
