Effluent Sludge Settlement Tanks

Effluent Sludge Settlement Tanks are available from either Polypropylene or High-Density Polyethylene which is selected to suit your specific application. Sludge is a thick soft mud or other viscous liquids that are typically the by-product of wastewater treatment, industrial wastewater solids and settled suspension from potable water treatment. It often contains various types of pathogens as well as heavy contaminants, in the case of industrial waste, chemical pollutants. Sludge contaminated by chemical pollutants or heavy metals, demands complex treatment.

Other applications for effluent holding tanks and sludge settlement tanks include small sewage treatment plants and other food and agricultural waste for anaerobic digestion. Other uses include removal of grit for water reuse on effluent treatment plants and concentration of apple mulch after cider fermentation.

Effluent Sludge Settlement Tanks In Wastewater Treatment

Effluent tanks and sludge storage tanks are a key part of operations in a wastewater treatment plant. Used for storage of raw effluent, treated effluent, final effluent, raw sewage and sewage sludge, an upright tank or conical tank is used to aid decanting/cleaning to a system of multiple tanks. The sludge tank is to hold sludge after it has been removed from the wastewater treatment system. Then settle out sludge further so more water can be recovered and further digest the sludge before disposal. Some have aeration and mixing that is delivered by mechanical and electrical means which aids digestion of the sludge that has accumulated.

Some sludge waste tanks are used only to hold the sludge and waste water until it’s taken away. An alternative to this is to use the tanks to concentrate the sludge within the tank at which point the clearer water is removed from the top where there is no longer sludge called decanting into water tanks. In most plants, the sludge is then drawn from the tank and dewatered through a sludge press which the drier product is hauled off as liquid for disposal off-site. For this process, a conical settlement tank is used.

These are also used with primary settlement tanks as well as settling tanks for temporary effluent waste storage.

Customised Sludge Settlement Tanks

In addition to providing bespoke sludge holding tanks and wastewater storage solutions for a diverse cross-section of clients, customisation and equipment mounting including welded fittings, sockets and flanges. Racking ports allow the draining of the water off the sludge while leaving the sediment in the bottom of the cone tank. Other options include industrial mixers liquid level sensor assemblies, fill pipes are available for these sludge treatment tanks.
