Large water tanks: What they are used for?

Large water tanks are used in rainwater harvesting, potable drinking water, process water and effluent systems for storing clean water, dirty water, or sludge.

Rainwater Tanks

Large rainwater tanks are used for above ground rainwater storage.  These tanks are available as singles moulded tanks up to 40,000 litres and can be interlinked to achieve large volumes up to 120,000 litres.  This water from the farm or commercial buildings can be used for agricultural crop sprayers, water for dairy wash down, pressure washers, greywater systems for flushing toilets for commercial factories and office blocks and many applications for washing and cooling in industry.

Drinking-Water Tanks

Our WRAS Potable Drinking Water Tanks, otherwise known as drinking water tanks or vertical water storage tanks, come in a choice of 51 sizes ranging from 50 to 40,000 litres – and can be interlinked for larger volumes.

All our potable drinking water tanks are WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) approved and are available in black, boat blue or natural only.  Our water tanks are all fully DWG approved and met the specific requirements of Regulation 31.   The Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) under the umbrella of the UK Government’s DEFRA (Department for Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs) states that; “Protection of public health of consumers through safeguarding the quality of drinking water is a key aspect of the drinking water quality regulatory framework” Regulation 31 ensures that water suppliers, when producing and distributing drinking water, only use products and substances that do not cause any detrimental effects on the safety or quality of the drinking water.

Industrial Process Water Tanks

Industrial process water tanks are used in industry, manufacturing processes, power generation and similar applications. Examples of process water system installations include.

  • pharmaceutical & cosmetics industries
  • food & beverage industries for purification for water for the production of food and drink
  • Contaminant removal systems for the wastewater produced
  • Chemical industries for cooling tower systems, makeup water and blowdown treatment systems
