Aeration Tanks For COD Reduction In Industrial Wastewater

Aeration tanks for COD reduction in industrial wastewater are used with internal aeration to treat wastewater from food and abattoirs. This water has been cleaned however high COD levels in the water mean that it can’t be discharged to drain.  Aeration tanks are used in many water and effluent treatment installations in the food and beverage to aeration wastewater.

What Is COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand)?

Chemical Oxygen Demand COD is an important water quality parameter as it provides an index to assess the effect discharged wastewater will have on the environment. High COD levels mean more oxidizable organic material which will reduce dissolved oxygen (DO) levels.  A reduction in DO can lead to anaerobic conditions which is harmful to higher aquatic life forms.

In most wastewater treatment plants; COD treatment technology is in the secondary treatment of the wastewater treatment. Another biological treatment such as Activated Sludge Process, Batch Reactors, Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactors are also used.

Air diffuser systems are ideal for vertical tanks where the diffusers rest directly on the floor reducing sedimentation. An air diffuser or membrane diffuser is an aeration device typically in the shape of a disc, tube, or plate. This is used to transfer air and that oxygen into sewage or industrial wastewater. Oxygen is required by microorganisms/bacteria residents in the water to break down the pollutants.

Enduramaxx Wastewater Aeration Tanks

Wastewater Aeration Tanks by an air diffuser can be used where continuous wastewater treatment is essential. industry processes and plants can continue to operate during installation and removal for maintenance as no tank drain down is required. Diffusers are typically connected to a piping system which is supplied with pressurized air by a blower. This system is commonly referred to as a diffused aeration system or aeration grid.

Enduramaxx works with effluent & wastewater treatment process installations supplying from our range of over 80 different sizes of flat base and conical tanks. 50-litre dosing tanks to 30,000-litre sludge tanks are customisable with fittings and flanges to take pipework from other equipment.  For more details on these please get in touch today.
