25000 litre Molasses Tank is a heavy-duty tank manufactured with a thicker wall thereby making it suitable for the storage of products with a specific gravity of up to 1.5. The tank is rotationally moulded and UV stabilised for durability. Molasses often has a specific gravity of 1.45. This means that 1.4 kg of molasses is 1 litre of tank capacity. This can vary and we recommend consulting your molasses supplier before deciding on the size of your tank.
Popular uses for 25000 Litre Molasses Tank include:
- Bulk storing of liquid animal feeds
- Storage of liquids with a high specific gravity
- Used in the Agricultural, Industrial and Commercial sectors
Molasses is a sticky dark by-product of processing sugar cane or sugar beets into sugar. Molasses can be a source of quick energy and an excellent source of minerals for farm animals. Molasses can also be a key ingredient for cost-effective management of feeds and pastures. Molasses also contains significant quantities of trace minerals such as copper, zinc, iron and manganese. Supplementing poor quality hay with molasses will increase feed intake and improve palatability. Microbes in the rumen break down the sugars in molasses rapidly, which extensively causes a rapid release of energy that makes molasses very useful for balancing other feeds in the dairy diet all year round. Feeding molasses to farm animals will improve digestion of pastures/hay; increase milk production, help maintain body condition and appetite and result in less feed waste.
Extracted from raw sugar, molasses is one of the most economical and palatable sources of fermentable energy available, making it a valuable ingredient in dairy, beef and sheep rations. Surprisingly for a liquid feed, it is also high in dry matter, and in the case of standard cane molasses up to 75%, which means it offers excellent nutrient density. Straw is an excellent base for ruminant diets where silage is unavailable. It is an excellent source of long fibre and there are a number of ways of improving both animal intakes and their utilisation of straw, and making it into an effective substitute for silage.
Molasses is generally delivered in bulk liquid tankers with discounts available for 10, 20 and 25-tonne volumes however a number of suppliers deliver in 1, 2 and 5-tonne volumes. Tanks should be are cleaned out from time to time to ensure no build-up of sediment. 3-4 inch diameter pipework, or the metric equivalent, is adequate to handle molasses.
